The Story Behind Manoko
Jewelry for who you are becoming.
I’m Yuko, a gemologist and jewelry designer from Thailand, and I started Manoko in 2014 with a simple idea:
Jewelry should feel like you.
Not something you wear because everyone else is wearing it. Not something saved only for special occasions. But something chosen because you love it, worn because it feels right, and slowly made part of your own story.
My first Manoko pieces were sold online and at weekend flea markets in Thailand. Little by little, the brand grew, from those small beginnings to international trade fairs, retail spaces, and eventually our own store in Bangkok.
Then my own life changed.
I moved from Thailand
to Seattle and found myself
beginning again.
For a while, Manoko became quieter while I built a new life, continued my work in fine jewelry, and discovered more clearly the woman I was becoming.
And somewhere along the way, I realized Manoko was becoming too.
Today, I design for women who know themselves, but are still becoming. Women who are confident, independent, feminine in their own way, and drawn to pieces with character. Jewelry doesn’t define them. It simply expresses something that is already there.
My own understanding of this
began long before Manoko.
Growing up, much of what
I learned about love came
from my dad.
His kindness, warmth, and the way he cared for the people around him shaped the values I still carry with me today.
It taught me that strength can be gentle. That the things with the greatest meaning don't always need to be the loudest.
And that is how I want Manoko to feel.
Manoko began in Thailand.
Now, more than a decade later, a new chapter is beginning in Seattle.
The place has changed. I have changed. Manoko has changed.
But some things remain.
